We would like to extend our gratitude towards T.M.C. Asser Instituut for organising the highly relevant SCL Lecture on the Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation Against Ukraine (RD4U) and facilitating discussion on the developments surrounding the Register and its work. This Supranational Criminal Law Lecture, which also featured our colleague Olesia Zaiets as a panel member, took stock of the developments surrounding the Register of Damage at this critical stage and tackled pertinent questions regarding a comprehensive approach to addressing the harm suffered by victims.
During the event, Ukraine Legal Network’s Olesia Zaiets highlighted the role of civil society in the Register’s work and presented ULN’s programme on RD4U, which incorporates a victim-first approach to spread awareness about and facilitate engagement with the work of the Register of Damage.
Going forward, ULN remains committed to supporting the Ukrainian community and the work of the Register with three key initiatives:
- Facilitating interaction with the Register through knowledge sharing sessions and community outreach programs
- Organising training sessions for Ukrainian lawyers to assist victims in claims submission
- Launching a survey to assess community awareness and gather feedback on expectations and needs
